Lions and Tigers and Bears…at the zoo!
When we were in Ohio earlier this month, we visited the Columbus Zoo with Brian’s parents. I am glad that we had the opportunity for a little bit of family time and it was a really special experience with the in-laws since it was their first visit to the zoo as well. (It’s funny that when you live somewhere you never really visit the touristy spots until someone comes to visit and you have to play tour guide!) I am extremely thankful that Brian and I have really good relationships with all of our in-laws!
I love these fish! They had a huge tank of them:

One of the rare photos of both of us together:

This has me cracking up! I never really thought about sting rays having mouths…but where else would they eat? This guy was swimming in the manatee tank:

The zoo had a really neat section where you can feed lorikeets and I loved it! Well, except when Brian put one on my head in secret and when another lorikeet bit me when I tried petting it! They are such colorful birds:

And I have to say that I have a new found respect for bats:

And of course the obligatory goofy family photo:

And now I’m off to spend some time with the other in-laws!
Britney – Senior Session
Part 2 of my senior session. I would like to mention that the weather in Ohio was perfect; great light, good temperature and fantastic location:

Julie – Senior Session
Last week we flew up to Ohio to spend some time with family. On Thursday, we headed out to the fantastic Jeffrey Mansion for Julie’s senior session. Julie is actually Brian’s cousin, so it was kind of special to be taking part in capturing a special time in her life. I have these memories of her as a little kid and now she is a young woman. I am amazed at how much time flies! Here are a few of my favorites:

Stay tuned! On Wednesday I’ll share my second senior photos!
Elizabeth & Justin – Engagement
Okay, I know I have been missing the last couple of weeks. It’s been tough! First I caught a cold and now I apparently have tonsillitis! Thankfully I have had some time to recover from both and am hopefully at the end of the tonsillitis. Moving on…
Yesterday was the perfect fall weather for Elizabeth and Justin’s engagement photos. Although they are planning a spring wedding, Elizabeth told me that she really wanted to have colorful fall photos. I’m looking forward to their wedding in June. Here are a few of my favorites:

Sarah & Ryan – Wedding
With the unpredictable forecast on Saturday, it was hard to tell whether or not Sarah and Ryan would have their wedding outside at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Thankfully the clouds and rain parted, and they were left with a lovely fall-themed ceremony. I loved seeing all the little touches of autumn they incorporated into their decor. Some of my favorites:

And they continued the celebration at Penny Lane Pub with bride & groom shirts:

Congratulations to you both!
Kellie & Jeff – Wedding
This weekend we had the pleasure of spending the day with Kellie and Jeff. They had a lovely ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a fantastic reception filled with fabulous details at Williamsburg Winery. Saturday’s temperature was perfect; not too hot, not too cold and the clouds provided for some cool images. Some of my favorites:

Kellie had a fantastic bouquet:

I love this one. The ladies wanted to do something reminiscent of Sex and the City:

Congratulations Kellie & Jeff! I hope you have a fantastic honeymoon in Egypt!
Elations – Florals
Last week Pauline put together some gorgeous florals. She is one multi-talented woman! I loved the small details in each of her floral pieces. Here are a few:

Check out the pins in this one:

I loved this one with the green wire wrapped around the stem:

Brett Harris – Portraits
On Sunday I met with Brett Harris for a photography session. Brett’s music is not only fantastic, but it’s also featured on my website. What makes the whole thing even cooler is that Brett and I went to high school together and although we just recently reconnected, it’s been neat to see where our lives have taken us.
Anyway, Brett claimed that he was nervous in front of the camera, but this guy is a complete natural. I’m excited to share a few images from our session:

Okay I think this one or the next one is my favorite. I can’t decide:

Thank you Brett! Can’t wait to see you perform in Richmond again!
Ainoy & Daniel – Wedding
After their earlier ceremony, Ainoy and Daniel had their wedding at the Science Museum of Virginia. It was definitely a bit worrisome with Hanna, but by the time their ceremony began, the weather had cleared. It was truly a pleasure to have worked with Daniel and Ainoy…they are both so awesome and even though Ainoy is a UVA grad, I am especially glad that she chose to work with a Hokie.
I wanted to share some of my favorites from the day, and I have to say that I loved the details that were planned for their day. Pauline at Elations worked her magic for this wedding! An excellent wedding coordinator definitely makes a difference!
This wedding had a really cool East meets West vibe:

Ainoy’s spectacular dress:

I love the colors of her other dress:

As they walked down the aisle, Ainoy and her mom shared a special glance:

Parasols for the formals:

I love their lighted bar:

Leaving in style:

Congratulations Daniel and Ainoy! I wish you many many happy years together.
Ainoy & Daniel – Laotian Blessing Ceremony
I am multi-tasking today! I think this is the fastest I have ever blogged photos!
This morning we headed over to photograph Ainoy and Daniel’s blessing ceremony…in a couple of hours, we’re going back out again to their wedding and reception which will hopefully go smoothly with Tropical Storm Hanna passing out of the area. ::fingers crossed:: I really wanted to show some from the blessing ceremony because it was such a special time and I’m thankful we were able to capture their morning.
First, check out the bright and beautiful colors from their clothes:

Love this little something:

It always makes me smile when I see how much brides generally go through getting ready preparations. For grooms, well…usually they are more relaxed:

Great expression:

This one is my personal favorite:

More from the rest of the wedding day soon!
