Sarah & Ryan - Wedding
With the unpredictable forecast on Saturday, it was hard to tell whether or not Sarah and Ryan would have their wedding outside at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Thankfully the clouds and rain parted, and they were left with a lovely fall-themed ceremony. I loved seeing all the little touches of autumn they incorporated into their decor. Some of my favorites:

And they continued the celebration at Penny Lane Pub with bride & groom shirts:

Congratulations to you both!
Kellie & Jeff - Wedding
This weekend we had the pleasure of spending the day with Kellie and Jeff. They had a lovely ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a fantastic reception filled with fabulous details at Williamsburg Winery. Saturday’s temperature was perfect; not too hot, not too cold and the clouds provided for some cool images. Some of my favorites:

Kellie had a fantastic bouquet:

I love this one. The ladies wanted to do something reminiscent of Sex and the City:

Congratulations Kellie & Jeff! I hope you have a fantastic honeymoon in Egypt!
Ainoy & Daniel - Wedding
After their earlier ceremony, Ainoy and Daniel had their wedding at the Science Museum of Virginia. It was definitely a bit worrisome with Hanna, but by the time their ceremony began, the weather had cleared. It was truly a pleasure to have worked with Daniel and Ainoy…they are both so awesome and even though Ainoy is a UVA grad, I am especially glad that she chose to work with a Hokie.
I wanted to share some of my favorites from the day, and I have to say that I loved the details that were planned for their day. Pauline at Elations worked her magic for this wedding! An excellent wedding coordinator definitely makes a difference!
This wedding had a really cool East meets West vibe:

Ainoy’s spectacular dress:

I love the colors of her other dress:

As they walked down the aisle, Ainoy and her mom shared a special glance:

Parasols for the formals:

I love their lighted bar:

Leaving in style:

Congratulations Daniel and Ainoy! I wish you many many happy years together.
Ainoy & Daniel - Laotian Blessing Ceremony
I am multi-tasking today! I think this is the fastest I have ever blogged photos!
This morning we headed over to photograph Ainoy and Daniel’s blessing ceremony…in a couple of hours, we’re going back out again to their wedding and reception which will hopefully go smoothly with Tropical Storm Hanna passing out of the area. ::fingers crossed:: I really wanted to show some from the blessing ceremony because it was such a special time and I’m thankful we were able to capture their morning.
First, check out the bright and beautiful colors from their clothes:

Love this little something:

It always makes me smile when I see how much brides generally go through getting ready preparations. For grooms, well…usually they are more relaxed:

Great expression:

This one is my personal favorite:

More from the rest of the wedding day soon!
Cristin & Mike - Wedding
When we first met Mike and Cristin, we got along fabulously, so it was especially great when they hired us to photograph their wedding. During the course of our meeting, when Cristin learned what high school I went to, she asked if I knew Debbie. Of course I knew Debbie! It turned out that my high school friend Debbie was her roommate in college. It was kind of a neat connection to have with my bride…and it goes to show what a small world it can be.
But anyway, on Saturday Cristin and Mike had their ceremony at Jerusalem Baptist Church and their reception at Old Town Hall in Fairfax. It was great spending the day with this couple because they were so kind and welcoming. Here are some from the day:

I love Cristin’s dress; it’s vintage and modern at the same time:

Another semi-formal bridal party shot. They have amazing friends:

I really like this one:

And of course Debbie was there! So this was my second weekend in a row with another mini high school reunion:

Congratulations Cristin and Mike! We wish you nothing but love and happiness through the years!
April & Brian - Wedding/Reception
On Saturday I headed out to the Petersburg Regional Arts Center to photograph April and Brian’s reception. It was kind of like a reunion for us both because April and I went to high school together! And even though quite a few years have passed, it was a nice time because we were comfortable working together (must be the memories of Spanish class!) and I was able to see some other former classmates as well (hi Brooke, Katie, and Whitney!).
Anyway, April and Brian married in Mexico last month, but they wanted to throw a reception here to celebrate with the family and friends who weren’t able to attend their wedding. Here are a few:

I overheard one of their guests mention that April photographs extremely well…and I must agree:

And let’s not forget Brian, who was just as friendly and kind:

I persuaded April and Brian to get a few Vera-esque photos to go with their Mexico photos…I really love how this one turned out:

Congratulations April and Brian! I wish you many happy years together.
Anne & Tim - Wedding
Wow, what can I say about Anne and Tim other than the fact that they have the “coolness” factor oozing out of them…and that I wish they would pass some of it to me! They had a beautiful ceremony at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and their awesome reception at The Commonwealth Club on Saturday. While I was amazed at all the lovely details they planned, I have to also say that it was just as cool…from their music poster to their photo booth, they truly made it an awesome day for their guests.
Here are some from the day:

Anne warned me she would change her hair accessory and I loved it:

Tim had some mod cuff links…and I think they really fit well with him:

This is yet another one of my favorite “formals” ever:

Check out the lovely decor, including chains of mirrors hanging from the ceiling. I also love how the cake matches the ribboning around Anne’s dress:

And as they left under a shower of petals, Anne’s mom surprised them with a carriage ride:

Congratulations Anne and Tim! I hope you are having a wonderful honeymoon in Mexico!
Tracey & Brandon - Wedding
On Saturday we had the pleasure of spending the day with Tracey and Brandon and their friends and family as they married in Richmond on the 24th floor of the Suntrust Building on Main Street. With stunning views everywhere and a rockin’ band, I have to say that it was a perfect location for a wedding ceremony and reception. Here are a few of my favorites:

The groom and his groomsmen, (trying!) to give me a Blue Steel look:

The lovely bride:

Tracey’s sister is gorgeous too:

Actually, all the bridesmaids were beautiful:

Congratulations to you both! Hope you’re having a blast in the Dominican Republic.
Sarah & David - Wedding
Brian and I headed out to photograph Sarah and David’s wedding and I have to say that I was really looking forward to spending the day with them. After our fun engagement session in May, I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store for their big day! (Side note: I really recommend booking engagement and/or bridal sessions because it is a great way to get acquainted with your photographer and get comfortable in front of the camera.)
The bridesmaid dresses:

Sarah really does have the most incredible eyes:

I love this one…I love the house she got ready in. The house was beautifully decorated and the lighting was perfect:

Then we headed off to the Living Word Fellowship Church to see the guys:

Okay, this has to be one of the best “formal” portraits I’ve taken. I love David’s sense of humor! And guys, here it is, on my website for the world to view, as you requested.
(That’s what she said!)

David and Sarah I hope you are having a wonderful time in Cancun and I wish you much joy and love in the years to come. And lots of laughter.
Katie & Chase - Wedding
Katie and Chase, or as their friends and family affectionately call them, Chatie (similar to Brangelina, Bennifer and TomKat) celebrated their wedding at Whitehall Manor this weekend. Although the day was rather hot and humid and the ceremony was slightly delayed (Northern VA traffic, of course!), Katie and Chase took to the day with a great, easygoing attitude (I figured as much because they are also fellow Hokies!). They planned a beautiful wedding with spectacular details from the personalized candy table to their lovely folded paper cranes.
Some of my favorites from the day include:

The lovely bride:

The laid-back groom:

The exchange of rings:

A few of my favorite portraits:

And what would a wedding be if Hokies didn’t play the Hokey-Pokey at their wedding?!:

Congratulations to you both! Thanks for the lovely evening!
