Website Update!
Whew. Well, I have to say go check out the website! I spent some time updating the website with new photos and galleries, text and slight music change.
I have to always, always thank Brian for giving me his feedback too. And I just have to share my newest favorite photo of Brian, taken the week before last while we were in D.C. at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. I love his thoughtful expression and his profound interest in science-y things:

Happy Birthday to Brian!
Despite our 3 day age difference, Brian took advantage this weekend of heckling me and the extra year added to my age. Thankfully he can only do this for a few days before it is his birthday too! So today I want to wish my best friend and husband a happy birthday:

And I have to say I am so thankful that this guy is in my life.
Happy Birthday to Me!
Since today is my birthday, Brian snapped some pictures of me and to update our website a little bit:

I can pretty much understand why I am more comfortable BEHIND the camera and the one taking the photo! But on Monday it’ll be Brian’s birthday and I can turn the camera on him. I am a total cradle robber…my husband is 3 days younger than me.
Have a good one!
The Entertainment Capital of the World.
What do you get when you throw in a little bit of Paris:

A little bit of Rome:

Maybe some Venice:

And Egypt?!:

Where else but:

Brian and I love traveling and one of our destinations this year was to Las Vegas. I grew up in New Jersey, so Atlantic City was always a few hours drive away. This was the first time we have been to Vegas and it is quite an extravagant and decadent city. We had a blast watching two Cirque du Soleil shows, O and Mystere (both excellent), and came back with lighter wallets and blisters. I loved the low humidity (kind of a shock to come back to 98% humidity in Richmond) and had to chuckle a bit with the palm trees and fake grass (astroturf) in the desert.
As much as I love traveling there is always the thrill of coming home.
Happy Mother’s Day!
I wanted to wish all the women in my life a Happy Mother’s Day! I have been extremely blessed to have great relationships with wonderful women who have influenced me in such positive ways, especially my mom and Brian’s mom.
A couple of snapshots from today with my mom before it started pouring (we’ll have to get photos with my mother-in-law in a few weeks when we fly out to visit!):

Hope everyone stays dry with all the rain! Stay tuned tomorrow for wedding photos!
Foosball…er, football.
Every spring and fall, Brian plays with a flag football team. They do usually do pretty well and finish around the middle. Last season they won enough to go play in the state flag football tournament!
Unfortunately this season is off to a rough start. The last two games have been canceled/postponed because of the (much needed) rainy weather. Hopefully they will FINALLY be able to play a game next week because I am sure the guys are ready to come back from losing the EXTREMELY close game from the first week.
This is one of my favorite football photos of Brian and his expression cracks me up! Look at the intensity on his face!:

In the fall season, the team found sponsorship, so they switched their jerseys to a great color.
A couple action shots from the first game of this season:

Hope you have a great week!
Celebrating One Year.
I can’t believe how quickly time has flown by! Today Brian and I have been married for a whole year! We have a very long history together…we dated for more than 7 years before marrying. I thought that when we married life wouldn’t be so different than when we were together, but I admit, I was wrong. Married life is definitely more sweeter and better. I couldn’t have asked for a more patient and wonderful husband who makes me laugh and brings lots of joy to my life.
Happy Anniversary GeGe!

You rock that Buddy.
My nephew.
The other weekend I managed to get a few snapshots of my nephew when he came over to visit. I suspect that the main reason he likes coming over (other than seeing Uncle Brian) is to play with my super-cool Mr. Potato Head accessories that we bought from our Disney World trip a few years ago.
It is so amazing to me to see how quickly children grow up. I think photography should be representative of the everyday day to day living, as well as the big events and celebrations.
And with that in mind, here are a few of the daily part of life kind of photos. This one makes me laugh because he was obviously distracted by the toy:

And how can you say no to this face? I get this regularly when he wants me to do something. Add in a “Please?” and then I am done!

And this one just melts my heart because it was almost nap time:

Hope you are having a good day! I am ready for the very nice spring-like weather we are expecting today!
In praise of husbands…specifically, mine.
Whew, these last couple of weeks have been crazy busy. In the midst of revamping the website (hopefully ready to be launched VERY soon!) and other life/work duties, I have been feeling especially thankful to have Brian as my best friend, husband and partner. Sometimes we get so caught up in the “go, go, go” part of life that I forget just how lucky I am!
I love taking part in a couples’ wedding day because we see the same reflection of love and spirit in their eyes with each other. It keeps us going too.
Earlier this month we celebrated our (almost, not quite…technically 10 months) 1 year anniversary of marriage by taking a trip to Blacksburg. I cannot say enough great things about being Hokie alums and loving Virginia Tech’s atmosphere, campus and location!
And since this is in praise of husbands I thought I would show a couple of portraits I took of mine:

I truly don’t know where I would be today without Brian’s love and support; his faith in me and in us inspires me to be better and to do better everyday.
So for today (and everyday), give your spouse/significant other/loved one a kiss for “just because!”
