Amy & Karl - Engagement
Amy and Karl contacted me last year about potentially photographing their wedding…until they decided to get married in Taiwan! Since their wedding will be overseas, they decided to have me photograph their small civil ceremony here in the States next month. Our photo session yesterday was part of their invitation preparation for their overseas wedding.
It’s hilarious because the weather said that it would be a high of 60 degrees with sunshine in the afternoon…and we were working in probably 50 degree weather and very cloudy skies. The sun did sort of peep through at the end which was both welcome and ironic. Amy and Karl did great in the finicky weather and kept laughing the whole way through.
Some of my favorites:

Thanks you two! Looking forward to your ceremony.
In praise of husbands…specifically, mine.
Whew, these last couple of weeks have been crazy busy. In the midst of revamping the website (hopefully ready to be launched VERY soon!) and other life/work duties, I have been feeling especially thankful to have Brian as my best friend, husband and partner. Sometimes we get so caught up in the “go, go, go” part of life that I forget just how lucky I am!
I love taking part in a couples’ wedding day because we see the same reflection of love and spirit in their eyes with each other. It keeps us going too.
Earlier this month we celebrated our (almost, not quite…technically 10 months) 1 year anniversary of marriage by taking a trip to Blacksburg. I cannot say enough great things about being Hokie alums and loving Virginia Tech’s atmosphere, campus and location!
And since this is in praise of husbands I thought I would show a couple of portraits I took of mine:

I truly don’t know where I would be today without Brian’s love and support; his faith in me and in us inspires me to be better and to do better everyday.
So for today (and everyday), give your spouse/significant other/loved one a kiss for “just because!”
Seminar Photos!
Last weekend I attended a seminar given by David Schwartz and I have to admit that I left feeling both exhilarated and overwhelmed! There was so much to learn and I am so thankful that I have been able to develop good relationships with my fellow attendees: David and Kristy, Jennifer, Stephanie and DeAnna.
I’ve pretty much spent this past week revamping the business (you can probably tell by the look of this blog!) and also working on getting the new website together. Although this was my first photography seminar, I have to say that David did a fantastic job freely giving and sharing his knowledge.
Some photos from the weekend seminar. David’s brides were so sweet and so photogenic:

Have a good one!
Good things to come.
I know, I know, it has been a while since my last post! You’re probably noticing the new look of the blog and this is kind of a hint of good things to come for Photos By Vera. We’re in the middle of revamping the website as well. I can’t wait until we go live.
Please excuse any hiccups as we are diligently working on improving our content.
